But does such a rule work in a world soaked through with computer technology and various gadgets?

The rapid growth of computer technology has led to the emergence of various diseases and syndromes previously unknown. Let's start with "computer vision syndrome".

While working at the computer, they are very tense. Images of letters, numbers, drawings on the screen do not consist of solid lines, as on paper, but of separate dots that do not have clear boundaries. Therefore, the signs and lines are less contrasting than they are in the book. This is especially true for low-quality monitors and tablets. The user's vision deteriorates, headaches, fatigue appear, the image splits. Human eyes are constantly refocusing between objects at different distances and under different lighting conditions. The monitor screen is flat, and we are used to working in a three-dimensional world. Therefore, the gaze becomes inactive, the field of view narrows. Lack of eye movement impairs the nutrition of its tissues. In addition, a decrease in the number of blinks leads to the drying of a thin tear layer, a decrease in tear secretion, as a result of which the eyes become inflamed and redden. Another point - the eyes look directly at the light source. At the same time, photoreceptors work without interruption, photosensitive pigments do not have time to recover. And you also need to consider that the monitor is surrounded by an electromagnetic field ...

Especially these problems apply to children whose eyes have not yet had time to fully form. Doctors recommend limiting the amount of time you work and play on the computer. So, children 3-4 years old should not sit in front of the screen for more than 20 minutes, and from 6-7 years old, you can increase the game time to 30 minutes a day.

But recently, more and more often you can hear such a phrase as "text neck". What is this thing? The human head weighs several kilograms. But when we tilt it, the load on the cervical spine begins to increase. At an angle of 15 degrees, our neck "feels" an increase in the "gravity of the head" twice, at an angle of 30 degrees - more than three times, and more than 45 degrees - 5-6 times! This is the load that comes as a bonus to our gadgets - smartphones, tablets and laptops.

A study conducted in this direction and published in the United States is already being replicated with might and main by various Internet. It redefines these stresses as "text neck" and argues that this situation can lead to early wear and tear of the spine, degeneration and even surgery. Some doctors consider this syndrome a new epidemic, because most users of new gadgets walk and sit with their heads down.

According to statistics, each smartphone user spends an average of 2 to 4 hours a day sitting hunched over. He plays games, types and sends messages, surfs various social networks, reads email or watches videos. In a year, this translates into a period of time from 700 to 1400 hours, and high school students and students can sit in this hunched position for up to 5000 hours!

Doctors believe that a lowered head leads to constant overload of the neck muscles, which leads to their deformation, pinched nerves, and even herniated discs. It can also cause pain in the neck, head and spine, and in the long run even reduce lung capacity by almost 30% and lead to heart disease.

What to do? And you need to move more, keep your head straight when you work with a laptop or smartphone. During hard work, regularly take breaks in which you do not sit, but bend over, stretch, squat to increase blood flow and prevent congestion.

The most important thing is to understand that everything is good in moderation. Real life is more beautiful than any computer game, and a computer or gadget is just a machine, the skillful use of which will make our life more interesting.

At the same time, beef tenderloin contains three times more iron and almost four times more zinc - elements necessary for proper blood formation and strong immunity. Red lean meat, consumed several times a week, can be a good addition to the diet, doctors have no doubt.

Also, not every white bread is the enemy of health and waist. A 50-gram piece of white bread contains 0.8 grams of healthy fiber, which is three times less than the same amount of bran bread. But white bread can also benefit the body. High-quality flour for making white bread is rich in calcium and iron, as well as B vitamins - B1 and nicotinic acid. In addition, the low fiber content of white bread helps calcium to be better absorbed.

It makes sense to delete butter from the diet if a person has by nature high level cholesterol, experts say. Butter is one of the few foods that contains vitamin D (fish oil also contains it), and good butter also contains the antioxidant beta-carotene, which is good for the lungs and heart. A 10-gram piece of butter is enough per day - this is about a quarter daily allowance fat for women and about a sixth for men.

Doctors are convinced that losing weight ladies in vain refuse potatoes. Under special restrictive conditions, potatoes are supposed to be eaten only by those who suffer from diabetes. For everyone else, including those who diligently get rid of extra pounds, boiled, in their skins or baked potatoes can and should be consumed. After all, potatoes are a record holder in terms of potassium content, and in addition, they contain vitamin C, B vitamins, folic acid, magnesium, phosphorus, calcium salts, trace elements - zinc, copper, manganese, iodine.

If there is one thing to give up, it is french fries, nutritionists are convinced. And for those who are worried about the figure, it is better to choose potatoes with pink or dark skins, as they contain less starch, and carbohydrates from it are absorbed more slowly than from white ones.

Another useful "harmful" product is chocolate. Experts advise giving preference to dark chocolate with a cocoa content of at least 70%. During the diet, it is indispensable. Once in the body, such chocolate will be digested for about 3-4 hours, causing a gradual rise in blood sugar levels and preventing hunger from waking up during all this time. For comparison: milk chocolate is digested in about 30-40 minutes.

Despite the increasing negative attitude towards sugar, which is called the “white death”, it is impossible to completely exclude sugar from the diet, nutritionists are convinced. Also, according to experts, sweeteners should be avoided. Doctors are convinced that none of the sweeteners can be useful for the body. Separate types sweeteners, according to doctors, can even cause obvious harm to health, provoking an exacerbation of latent or chronic ailments. For example, all sugar substitutes have a strong choleretic effect, and, at a minimum, can cause painful symptoms in people with diseases of the biliary tract.

Stevia is considered the only harmless sweetener by nutritionists. And sugar is good for the body if you eat no more than 50 grams per day.

You have no doubt heard the expression “everything is good in moderation” or “less is more”. And it makes a lot of sense, especially if you're trying to overdo something, such as overloading your work schedule, stuffing your apartment with unnecessary things, or overdoing it with shopping on big sale days. I must have bad milk”… You listen to stories like this, and the conclusion is that the biggest problem with feeding is the lack of milk. And, meanwhile, the opposite “problem” is much more common - there is too much milk. Much more than one child needs.

Signs of too much milk

Excess milk is especially relevant in the first 12 weeks of the baby. Mom almost always has heavy, “poured” breasts, and many complain about the almost non-passing leakage of milk from the breast. The milk ducts may not empty properly, hence the frequent engorgement and swelling of the entire breast or its individual segments, which sometimes leads to stagnation and inflammation.

In such "milk" mothers, children often behave very restlessly. They are almost constantly on the chest, but at the same time they burp a lot and profusely. The stool in such babies is plentiful, watery and greenish. They have excellent weight gain (even more than the “normative” 15-30 grams per day), although they ask for breasts so often that it seems to many mothers: “there is not enough milk”. Not only frequent and indiscriminate feedings exhaust the mother, but also the very behavior of the child at the breast: the baby chokes on milk, starts to suck and throws the breast, or “moves out” on the nipple, biting it. It is very difficult to teach a baby to take the breast correctly and painlessly at such moments.

It would seem that a lot of milk is not enough, live and rejoice. Moreover, usually by the age of 3-4 months the process of milk production is established by itself: the flow is not so strong, the flow of milk is not so plentiful, and the baby has grown up and copes better. But you can try to alleviate the situation, both for mom and baby, right now.

Why is too much milk bothering the baby?

To begin with, let's figure out what exactly causes such symptoms in a baby? They are caused by a disproportionately high intake of low-fat "forward" milk. This is exactly the milk that accumulates in the breast between feedings. In a normal situation, it goes to the baby at the very beginning of feeding, and then more and more particles of fat are added to it, which come off from the alveoli (the place where milk is produced). The longer the feeding lasts, the more fat gets to the baby. That is, the fat content of milk increases depending on the time of feeding. If the breast is constantly filled with milk, a lot of this watery “forward” milk manages to accumulate in it, and the baby, applying often and for a short time to one or the other breast, only sucks this milk. In his intestines enters relatively a large number of sugar (lactose) and a relatively small amount of fat. Normally, fat slows down the digestion of lactose. When there is little fat, the body simply does not have time to break down lactose (a special protein, lactase, is responsible for this). Fermentation, rumbling in the tummy and gaziki are provided to the baby. The child behaves as restlessly as in colic; and sometimes another diagnosis is heard: “lactase deficiency”. Kelly Bonjata gives an interesting analogy that helps to better understand what is foremilk and hindmilk. The breast constantly produces milk, but the composition of the milk changes during feeding. The transition from "forward" to "back" milk is gradual. The longer the baby suckles, the more milk he receives, which is richer in fat than the milk at the beginning of feeding. Imagine that you turn on the hot water tap, but for some time it still runs cold, which gradually becomes warmer. Similarly, the fat content in milk gradually increases.

Everything is good in moderation. How to deal with excess milk?

All of these symptoms can be greatly reduced with just a few changes to the feeding schedule. Our goal is for your baby to get as much full-fat milk as possible. The experience of many mothers shows that this is easy to achieve in the following ways:

  • Allow your baby to COMPLETELY empty one breast before offering the other. This means that you do not limit the time the baby is at the breast, and try not to change the breast during feeding. Look at the baby, whether he has finished actively sucking or not, whether he dozed off or not.
  • Within the same feeding, even if the baby has stopped suckling for a while, continue to offer the same breast. Or use the "squeeze" technique, massaging and gently squeezing the milk from the breast into the baby's mouth.
  • Don't worry if your baby has only eaten from one breast during one feeding. This is fine. If there is pain in the second breast, apply a cold compress to it or express a little milk. The cold will reduce the swelling and soothe the pain, as well as slightly slow down the circulation in the area, all of which will slow down the production of milk a little.
  • Try to express milk as little as possible so as not to stimulate its production.

Additional Tricks

If all these measures did not give any significant results, and there is still a lot of milk, then it is recommended to change the breast even less often. For example, feed only from one breast for 2-3 hours. In rare cases, this interval is increased up to 6 hours. Help your "resting" breasts in the same way as described above: cold compresses, gentle massage, and minimal pumping. Feeding in this mode will allow you to notice in a few days that the baby is calmer during, after and between feedings. Most likely, having begun to receive more fatty milk, the baby himself will begin to increase the intervals between feedings (and mothers are waiting for this so much!). After all, the foremilk was digested very quickly, which is why he so often asked for food again and again.

But sometimes the mother has so much milk that even long feeding “on the one hand” does not help. Such mothers can be helped by cabbage compresses, taking a decoction of sage or special preparations (antihistamines).

As soon as the situation begins to change for the better, return to your normal feeding schedule, but remember that the second breast is offered ONLY after the baby has emptied the first.
