Review of Mivin's Seasoning "Chicken" - I want it, but it hurts. Test: seasonings

For the Ukrainian consumer, the word "Mivina" has long become a household word. This is how the inhabitants of Ukraine call any instant vermicelli. And all because this company was the first to bring to the market a product that gained immense popularity and managed to truly fall in love with the people. It is difficult to find a person who has not tasted this dish at least once.

The history of this product is very interesting. Simple "curly" noodles in a colorful pack has really come a long way, winning its market segment and its place in the heart of the buyer.

Breakthrough in the Ukrainian market

Vermicelli "Mivina" appeared on the shelves in the mid-90s of the last century. This product was not an invention, something similar already existed (for example, the inhabitants of Russia were already familiar with Doshirak and Rollton). Instant noodles belong to the traditions of the Far Eastern cuisine. It is not surprising that the citizens of the CIS were introduced to this product by people from Asian countries.

In those days, many were wary of the novelty, because the Ukrainians had never seen anything like it. It was difficult to believe in something that did not need to be cooked. Many have tried this noodle for the first time out of pure curiosity.

Everyone could choose one of several bright tastes. The price did not deter. Advertising promised multiple benefits and benefits. The product was clearly not in short supply, a pack of noodles could be purchased even at a night stall. This provided rapid growth the popularity of Mivina. The novelty was also liked by housewives, who, over the years of scarcity, have learned to invent goodies from any product.

"Mivina" is a word that is truly dear to the heart of every tourist or student. How many times this simple food rescued, warmed and pleased the one who had to satisfy his hunger in the conditions of a hike, a change house, a gatehouse, a hostel.

The company, introducing a new product to the market of a country that survived the years of perestroika, relied on accessibility. By the way, this later played a bad joke with “quick” noodles: today many consider it food for the poor, although the cost of a serving is not so cheap (for example, a portion of a potato or cereal side dish will cost less).

Compound

If you think that "Mivina" is a product that is unhealthy, pay attention to some facts. The manufacturer uses preservatives and flavor enhancers, but there are no more of them in the seasoning than in children's sweets. All ingredients are certified, their quantities are within the normal range. In addition, the composition includes natural ingredients: dried vegetables, spices, vegetable oil, dried meat, sugar and salt, wheat flour. There are also synthetic additives, including those containing the letter E in the name. Therefore, for dietary and children's menu"Mivina" is not good.

Worthy of attention and multiple awards for quality.

New flavors, new products

The line of spicy and mild noodles with chicken, pork and beef flavors was soon expanded by the Mivina seasoning series. The real hits were powder supplements with flavors of meat, mushrooms, vegetables. Today, the company also produces natural spices, consisting of dried vegetables and herbs.

Instant soups, including creamy ones, are very popular.

An excellent solution for many was set meals packed in plastic serving containers and mashed potatoes.

Brewing and more

About how to turn a semi-finished product into a ready-made meal, the manufacturer clearly reports on the packaging with the help of clear illustrated instructions. Add boiling water to the vermicelli, cover with a lid and let it brew for a couple of minutes. By the same principle, mashed potatoes and most soups are prepared.

But Mivina noodles are not only the basis for a side dish. Many housewives cook soups and salads with pasta.

Try kneading a block of noodles with your hands, add a couple boiled eggs, diced, some ham and salted or fresh cucumbers. If you serve a salad dressed with mayonnaise to the table immediately, the vermicelli will create a pleasant texture, the dish will be crispy. After standing and soaking, the salad turns out to be more tender. You can achieve new tastes by adding other ingredients at your discretion: pickled mushrooms, onions, herbs, peas. And if you replace the sausage with crab sticks or boiled liver, you can get a completely new snack.

Mivina's flavors allow you to cook many soups. For example, both noodles and seasoning from it can be used to prepare first courses with mushrooms, meatballs, and meat.

Precautionary measures

It should be understood that "Mivina" is not the best option for a daily side dish. It is not worth it to abuse fast food. Experts assure that when used wisely, this noodle and seasoning will not cause any negative consequences. But if there are already problems with the gastrointestinal tract (for example, an ulcer or gastritis), this product, like any hot spices, must be discarded.

One success story

Another noteworthy interesting fact associated with "Mivina". The brand was created by a native of Vietnam - Pham Nyat Vuong.

Today he is a successful businessman who is the first dollar billionaire in the history of his country. Interestingly, after moving to Ukraine, Mr. Vyong got into huge debts to give life to his offspring. His idea quickly bore fruit, the company Tekhnokom LLC, which owns the Mivina brand, became famous and became rich. Later, it was bought out by the Nestle Corporation for a good amount. Pham Nhat Vuong himself returned to his homeland and devoted himself to the development of business and infrastructure in Vietnam.

Smell, taste

Flaws

Chemistry and harmful additives in the seasoning

Details

Seasonings are flavoring substances that are added to food to give taste, smell, color. Some of them are even very useful, they contribute to the secretion of gastric juice. Such as parsley, dill fortify dishes. But I want to talk specifically about one seasoning, which is called Mivin's "Chicken" seasoning. Chosen by most housewives because of its ease of use, it is now a top selling condiment. It is very convenient to use mivina, added it to the dish and got a pleasant taste and aroma. It is used for cooking first and second courses. Even I have one and occasionally add it mainly to first courses to enhance the taste.

The composition of the seasoning includes kitchen salt, food mixture for seasonings (corn starch, wheat flour of the highest and first grades, palm stearin, garlic, soy lecithin emulsifier), flavor and aroma enhancers (glutamate, guanylate and sodium inosinate), sugar, dried vegetables 3 ,4% (carrot, onion, sweet red pepper), maltodextrin, flavors (white chicken meat, chicken), hydrogenated vegetable fat, dried herbs 1.2% (onion, parsley, dill), acidity regulator citric acid, dye riboflavin , dried chicken meat. The composition is simply terrible and in itself such a seasoning is harmful, especially if you use it instead of salt. With such a seasoning, it is easy to get a stomach ulcer. As they say, it is better to drink some water, there will be more benefits. Mivina is a trademark of the Kharkov company "Technokom", which is engaged in the production of semi-finished products. Mivina herself leads to terrible consequences, it has long been proven that it is very harmful and can lead to death due to chemical additives and genetic modification. Although it is officially approved for use. I use such a seasoning very rarely, so it will not cause harm, but with frequent use you can not only harm yourself, I heard that they get used to it, as if it is addictive. In general, I do not advise anyone to add such chemicals to their dishes. What can be useful in this powder. It is better to add dill with parsley, it is healthier and safer.

If you carefully read the composition of chicken seasonings and do some research, it turns out that such a seasoning in itself is more like flavored tinted salt with the addition of dried vegetables. Indeed, chicken seasonings are 70% salt. Of the "chicken ingredients" in the compositions, there is always a flavor identical to the natural "chicken", sometimes chicken fat or dried chicken meat. True, the figures for the content of chicken ingredients (some manufacturers indicated them) are depressing: if 1% chicken fat is still nothing, then 0.02% dried chicken meat in chicken seasoning is sad. So it is flavorings that have to portray the presence of chicken in seasonings. The presence of dried vegetables and herbs is beyond doubt - they are clearly visible both in dry mixtures and when obtained from broth seasonings. Pieces of carrots or sweet peppers, along with dill, create an attractive look.

In addition to the listed ingredients, all seasonings contain flavor enhancers, and three at once: monosodium glutamate (E621), sodium inosinate (E631) and sodium guanylate (E627). To give seasonings and dishes with them a beautiful yellow color, dyes (riboflavin, sugar color) and turmeric are used. The fat content and "richness" of the broth is achieved by adding vegetable oils (palm and sunflower) or chicken fat, as well as starch.

This composition of many consumers disappoints and scares away. However, there are not so few consumers of chicken seasonings, which would be more correctly called chicken-flavored seasonings. Therefore, it was decided to test them all the same.

TESTING
There are 6 chicken spices in the test: Mivina, Pripravka, Aromatika, Rollton, Mriya and Torchin. The spices were evaluated for labeling and packaging, checked in the laboratory for several indicators and tasted.

Labeling and Packaging
There were no complaints about the packaging of seasonings, and there were not so many complaints about the labeling. It is quite common for manufacturers to food additives indexes E do not indicate. A more significant note to the seasoning "Mriya": the date of production of this product is applied in light golden numbers on a golden background, they can be distinguished with great difficulty. Why not put the numbers in black ink?

Laboratory research
In the laboratory, seasonings were tested for several indicators. The salt content test showed that the seasonings are 70-73% salt. Which, in principle, is not surprising: in the composition of all tested seasonings, it is salt that is listed in the first place. Recall that the composition of the product must be listed on the label in descending order, which means that the ingredient listed in the first place is the "largest".

The seasonings were also weighed to check the net weight. Underweight was not found in any of the samples.

Another interesting direction of testing seasonings is the definition amount of flavor enhancer(sodium glutamate E621). It turned out that its content in spices reaches 3483 mg/kg. True, this flavor enhancer is allowed to be added to products in amounts up to 10,000 mg / kg. So, there were no violations in this indicator.

In addition, in seasonings it was decided look for chicken. This applies to samples in which dried chicken meat was declared: "Mivina", "Pripravka" and "Rollton". Such a search did not give a positive result - no chicken meat was found. However, this is most likely due to the fact that during the drying of chicken, the DNA of the meat proteins were completely destroyed, so even the PCR method did not record anything. And the promised amount of chicken meat was too small.

Organoleptic evaluation
As for the tasting, it was decided to try the spices in the form of a broth, which was prepared based on the recommendations on the packages. There are no special seasoning requirements. They just have to match their name. And although the seasonings could not boast of a pronounced chicken aroma and taste, there were no frankly unpleasant shades. Comments on the organoleptic characteristics of seasonings are given in the table.
