3. For a boy from 3 to 12 years old, it is better to choose...

...curtains of a bright, but not flashy color with an interesting pattern. Indeed, during this most curious period in a child’s life, when he is just beginning to learn about the world around him, the decor of the room should contribute to this.

Fabrics can decorate:

Funny and cheerful pictures - for example, animals, robots, dinosaurs, colored cars and other images that boys always like.
Simple but interesting stories that are nice to look at before bed.
Prints that reflect the baby's interests - for example, if he likes airplanes or some movie character, then let the curtains reflect this.

4. For a teenage boy over 12 years old, it is better to choose...

During adolescence, boys will appreciate opaque blackout curtains, as well as thick or rough fabrics like linen. In terms of design and color, growing young people will most likely like classic and strict models - plain or with a completely adult pattern. Contrasting combinations, dark and deep colors, tartan, stripes, large stars, prints like the British flag - these are the ideas that can be offered to the owner of the room.

5. When choosing the color of the fabric, consider the level of illumination of the nursery

For poorly lit and “northern” children's bedrooms, it is better to choose curtains in warm and light colors: white, yellow, beige, orange color. These colors will create the illusion of sunlight in the room and make it more cheerful.

If the room’s windows face south and the room is often well lit, then fabrics in cold colors will look more advantageous: blue, gray, turquoise. However, in a bright room, curtains of any color, even dark, would be appropriate.

Dark or too bright fabrics with large patterns will visually reduce the space. But light ones with a small and unobtrusive pattern will not “eat up” either daylight or the square footage of a small room.

Vertical striped curtains will help raise low ceilings, but it is better to hang them as high as possible.

7. The most versatile curtain colors: white, beige and light gray

These shades look good in a nursery of any color scheme and style. They are especially good if:

The interior of the room is decorated very colorfully or elegantly, then plain curtains of a neutral color will balance out the overly “active” wallpaper, carpet, decor and toys.

8. Choose easy-care fabrics

To ensure that curtains are easy to wash, do not fade in the sun and do not shrink, you should give preference to products made from mixed fabrics.
If you want to choose completely natural fabrics (from linen, cotton, chintz, etc.), then keep in mind that after washing they will “shrink” and decrease by 10-20 cm. Take this into account when calculating the length and width of the curtains.
Lightweight fabrics are much easier to wash and iron.

9. Avoid heavy curtain rods

Remember that heavy barbells with thick or sharp tips pose a potential danger to children. Ideally, curtains should be hung on plastic ceiling cornice or a metal rod of small diameter. However, the main thing is to choose reliable brackets and fasten them well.

10. The most practical curtains are short

Roman, roller, cafe, short curtains will be more convenient for a child to use, and for you to wash. Complex combinations of several fabrics, with draperies and lambrequins will collect dust and complicate cleaning.
