These questions were answered by the director of the Irkutsk Astronomical Observatory state university, professor of ISU, senior researcher of the Institute of Solar-Terrestrial Physics of the Siberian Branch of the Russian Academy of Sciences, Doctor of Physical and Mathematical Sciences Sergey Yazev. In the 70s of the last century in the Soviet Union, up to 120 satellites were launched annually from the Baikonur and Plesetsk cosmodromes, that is, every three days a satellite was launched. Add to that launches in the US, China, France, Japan and you have 200+ launches all over the planet. All this is visible in vast territories, so people constantly saw a large number of strange effects in the sky without realizing what is going on.
International statistics say that about 10% of all UFOs are balloons, that is, devices that are lighter than air. If you look at them from afar, you may not recognize what's going on.
There are giant balloons that rise to great heights, there are balloons, pilot balloons, atmospheric observatories. They are carried by the wind for weeks - at an altitude of tens of kilometers, across all borders.
Aircraft for lighting during night exercises are used by the military, and ordinary citizens love to launch Chinese lanterns for any reason and occasion.
Another 10% of UFOs are terrestrial vehicles. In our time, all kinds of drones have become very common, the number of which will only grow. So, before talking about the Martians, we must first go through all of the above hypotheses.
The main idea is this: trying to reduce all unidentified flying objects to one cause is a dead end. The reasons are enormous.
Natural and mental phenomena
“It must be said that there are also natural phenomena, well studied or not, which are sometimes mistaken for something mystical: halos, clouds, northern lights and others,” Sergey Yazev continued.
“Now we most often look at the monitor or iPhone and rarely at the sky, so many natural things seem amazing. People who lived, say, in the 19th century saw the same halo every other day, because in frosty weather, ice crystals in the air, when illuminated, always give optical effects. Or, for example, during volcanic activity, ash emissions, particles of which rub against each other, are accompanied by electrical discharges - these are amazingly beautiful phenomena. In the second half of the 20th century, previously unknown strange electrical phenomena were discovered at high altitudes in the atmosphere (up to 100 kilometers), which were called sprites, elves and jets. These are very beautiful luminous figures that can be seen even from the ISS.
In October 1989, a powerful series of solar flares led to grandiose magnetic storms and auroras everywhere, even at low latitudes. Our newspapers were full of reports that people saw some kind of red luminous balls in the sky. This is also not very common, but quite natural.
UFO - this, to be honest, is often a product of the human psyche. There are people who are convinced that this is all true. If in past centuries people talked about devils, demons, goblin, brownies, then in our time they talk about aliens - all this is written in textbooks on psychiatry.
That image of an alien, which was once created by director Steven Spielberg, turns out to be a standard picture for everyone. Any grandmother from the most distant village or a child will recognize this image - this is already a cultural code.
A certain woman constantly calls us at the observatory, who asks about the end of the world and the alien invasion. Curious: where did you get it from? I watched REN-TV, she says. Do not watch REN-TV!
We need to be blunt: many UFOs are the product of deliberate hoaxes. I myself did such things as a student: I hung the lid of the tank on a fishing line to develop photographs against the background of clouds, photographed and published in the local newspaper on April 1. No one would be able to determine that this is a fake! And in our time, with the capabilities of Photoshop and the Internet, this is not a problem at all.
Sergei Yazev noted that the surge in reports of UFO sightings occurred in the second half of the 20th century, which exactly coincides with the start of the mass launch of satellites and missiles: in 1947, after the end of World War II, the US military began testing German missiles taken out of defeated Germany at their test site.
Summing up his story, Professor Yazev said:
- Despite the fact that science does not deny the possibility of the existence of intelligent life outside the Earth, there is not a single reliable evidence of visiting our planet by aliens today.

A few days ago, the British Ministry of Defense declassified a UFO report. It has been medically proven that this kind of local field can cause a reaction in the temporal lobe of the human brain. As a result, a person has a very clear idea of events that actually did not take place.
However, not everything is to blame for the weather. Sometimes earthlings mistakenly mistaken for an alien ship planes with especially bright onboard lights or unusually shaped balloons. Or the reflections of a powerful lighthouse. But you never know now in the world of technical gizmos that can confuse the observer, especially if he suffers from a vivid imagination.

The "tradition" of the British Ministry of Defense regarding UFOs is fresh, but it is hard to believe in it. However, I did not manage to get to the Tallinn crew in order to take more detailed "testimonies" for my own newspaper: the UFO story was tabooed. Meanwhile, the author of these lines was given to understand that the pilots could most likely observe the secret military development that was present in the sky. And that it was precisely this kind of test objects walking in the sky that more than once or twice were taken by witnesses for UFOs.
So whose secret developments are guarded by the defense industry of all countries? Aliens or your own? And take it higher! - Is there a conspiracy of world governments waging "star wars" in secret from the earthly people? These questions were answered by British computer ace Gary McKinnon, whose excessive curiosity turned him into a hacker and for whom the prison now cries. But when it did show up, it was a miracle. The culmination of all my efforts. It was a picture of something that was definitely not human made. It hung over the earth's hemisphere. It looked like a satellite. In the shape of a cigar - and such geodesic domes on top, bottom, left, right and on both sides of it, and although the picture was low resolution, it was clearly taken from a very close distance. This thing was hanging in space, you can see the earth's hemisphere under it - and there are no rivets, no seams, nothing that is associated with normal human production.
BBC: Could it be a drawing and not a photograph?
G.M.: I don't know... For me it was more than a coincidence. This woman said, "That's exactly what's going on in this building, in this space center." I entered this building, this space center, and that's exactly what I saw.

In response to Gary McKinnon's claims, US aerospace officials denied that they had edited the images to mislead the public and stressed that NASA's policy was to be open. In addition, as the agency added, it does not have direct evidence of the existence of extraterrestrial life.
